Rest House

I needed to rest   We were just getting started

I could not take it already   I did not want to take it

I was young, I wanted to stop for a minute

to avoid going forward

look
at the drinks
in the arcade light

the milk teas the sodas
and sit on the bench

have a drink   look at maps

go to the bathroom   at my face,

my family’s face, in the mirror

and wonder, what does my family contain

why is it so easy to lose oneself in the warmth of resemblances

skin into
a panic

getting close to the sun

replaced by a cloud

that grew out of itself

Who had time to look up
