Friable

So opened a feeling that had no door

Fantasy tilled my thoughts
toward thought without object

position without claims

desire lapped legibility’s edge

no arguments no examples no hierarchy
to parse detail from salience

The fantasy never points
outside itself

inexhaustible withness, weak syntax

for the fantasy has no outside

no door—

and no interior either

just a hum inside my own distrust

The fantasy tries tactics against extraction

a feeling opened
grows murky, turbid

to frustrate the premise

moving out into the limbs

The fantasy is obvious
attempts no trick

Dream spaces slid on top of one another:

while accepting tricks
as conditions of appearing

the bell tower of the Judson church
straw-colored brick
appeared again and again
appended to different settings

See “No to virtuosity”
with and against the fact

the vantage from below
was longing itself
“The dance took eight weeks to learn”
but the wished-for object—
was it dance, architecture, a lineage, worship
or simply there:
the structure marking as it does
my route after work toward home

Though susceptible to projection

Beyond proximate
from somewhere closed in, cellular
desire rose
up to its edges

(being as it is pure screen)

elaborate pressing
sunk inside flesh

the fantasy is not
a template for action

indurate / obdurate stone

Prayer that my questions
may not drift
into mere utility

in the dark living room
lilies pushed their scent out

“No to transformations
magic and make-believe”

a look to decorate the waiting

To bring about any kind of effect
would require extension, invasion

The feeling of being ebbed into
closed and green

extension through wanting

like I am the loose earth I lie on
growing intractable
like uggh, release me

My desire for richness of sight
stank of empire

as rules come from anywhere
by a logic I can semi-see

What comes along

now that I’ve grown suspicious of all claims

to make the next things happen?

I found myself saying
and in saying revealing
that for which I didn’t have the particular words

one thing (not another)
then another and the the next

Speaking then of congruence
between that which has no form

What I am wanting

Let the resonances fall
toward a shape

no finding

a simple pattern

no finding and wanting

Can I move like that?

is to be freed from the limits of precision
Not evading, submitting
to what amorphously is

as one piece of a contradiction
sets the other aglow
